Guidelines For Diabetes Care in Long-term Care Facilities 4th Edition

The MDP is promoting this unique set of diabetes care recommendations for long-term care facilities in partnership with the Minneapolis/St. Paul Diabetes Educators (MSDE). The guidelines were spearheaded by MSDE and involved the MDP, the state’s long-term care organizations, and local gerontology practitioners. The guidelines are written to be practical and cost sensitive, and incorporate information from recent research and standards of care.

Please note that the Guidelines are being updated and a new version will be released in early 2006. You can still order the 2000 version and we will automatically send you the updates when they become available.

A collaborative effort of:

  • Minneapolis / St. Paul Diabetes Educators
  • Long-term Care Organizations
  • Gerontology Practitioners
  • Minnesota Diabetes Control Program

"The purpose is to provide guidelines for the care and management of the resident with diabetes in the long-term care setting. The guidelines have been written to be practical and cost sensitive. They incorporate information from recent research and standards of care."
