Position: Dakota County Health Promotion Specialist - (SHIP Grant Funded Through October 2019)
Organization: Dakota County
Description: We are focusing on chronic disease prevention in our increasingly diverse community and are looking for someone to help us do this work inclusively. This position will implement effective community-based health promotion strategies primarily in nutrition and physical activity with a focus on policy, systems and environmental change. This position is needed to advance wellness initiatives related to students and adults. Duties include community engagement, building partnerships, conducting presentations, meeting facilitation, assessment, strategic planning, policy development and implementation, evaluation, and providing consultation and assistance to individuals and groups in one or more of these settings: community, child care, and school.
Required Qualifications: " Bachelor's or higher degree in Public Health, Health Education, Nutrition/Food Science, Health Policy, Human Services, Communications, Community or Organizational Development or related area. AND " 1 or more years of work experience in a community, health care, school system, or work site in the area of nutrition, physical activity, tobacco, dementia, falls prevention or wellness policy and/or programming. And " Valid driver license
Additional Desired Qualifications or Experience: "Experience engaging diverse populations and community organizing " Master's degree in Public Health or related field " Bilingual (e.g. Spanish, Somali) skills highly desirable.. " Experience in Public Health. " Experience in community engagement, policy, and system change. " Experience with school nutrition and/or physical activity
