Worksite Policies for Tobacco-Free Grounds
Benton County Public Health
The effects and cost of tobacco use in Minnesota worksites is dramatic. An estimated $2 billion dollars is spent per year in direct health care costs, equaling almost $400 per person in the state and over $1 billion in lost productivity.
Nationally, up to 8% of a smoker's workday is lost on smoking related activities and issues.
A tobacco free worksite policy can help employers minimize health care costs and lost productivity.
