MN VRV2000 ENHANCEMENT
A funeral director using the MN VRV2000 to file death records has the ability to make corrections to the record, after it has been "SAVED". Any corrections made by the funeral director must be made within 45 days of the date the record was filed (SAVED) and before issuance of a certified death certificate. Corrections are limited to the information recorded in error or the provision of missing information.
Before implementing the correction functionality in your office we ask that you review your current business process to ensure you are not ordering death certificates prior to confirming the information you have filed is correct. Once the local registrar has printed out your order, the record is considered issued and a correction can no longer be made by the funeral director.
Instructions for the RECORD-CORRECT Process
Legislative changes effective August 1, 2005 include increases in fees for birth and death records and related services, a requirement to print disposition permits from MN VRV2000, and the addition of the "sibling of the subject" to those who have the tangible interest in a death certificate.
For more information, two fact sheets have been posted on the STATUTE & RULE REQUIREMENTS pages. Click on Disposition and Other Permit Requirements or Fees for Death Certificates in the index.
