Folic Acid Educational DVD in Seven Languages

MDH partnered with the Emergency & Community Health Outreach (ECHO) program, the Minnesota Chapter of the March of Dimes, and the Minnesota Folic Acid Council to create a DVD that includes seven 20-minute folic acid educational video productions. English, Hmong, Khmer/Cambodian, Lao, Vietnamese, Somali and Spanish are the seven languages available. (View: Folic Acid and Prenatal Care)

Health Condition Fact Sheets (for over 40 of the Most Common Birth Defects) - the Minnesota Department of Health's MCSHN program has developed a series of fact sheets for over 40 of the most common birth defects. The fact sheets provide information such as a general description of the condition, prevalence, common associated conditions, short and long-term treatment and outcomes, common complications and implications for children's development.

National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN): NTD/Folic Acid Information - this site links to brochures developed by the National Birth Defects Prevention Network (NBDPN) on NTD prevention targeting both preconception and postpartum.

Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS): Resources - this site offers a series of fact sheets on “teratogens” (substances that are known to interfere with fetal development). The fact sheets answer frequently asked questions about exposures during pregnancy.
