Clean Water Fund
Background

The Clean Water, Land, and Legacy Amendment (Minnesota Constitution, Article11, Sec.15), increases the sales and use tax rate by three-eighths of one percent (Minnesota Revenue) on taxable sales beginning on July 1, 2009, continuing through 2034.  The additional revenue is allocated to protect water quality, preserve arts and culture, and support state parks and trails.

One third of the proceeds of the tax is dedicated to a Clean Water Fund (CWF) fund to protect, enhance, and restore water quality in lakes, rivers, streams, and groundwater, with at least five percent of the CWF targeted to protect drinking water sources.
