Minnesota FEMA Grant Awards for
Tornado Safe Rooms
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has released Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funds for the construction of safe rooms. The HMGP funds will enable communities to implement critical mitigation measures to reduce or eliminate the risk of loss of life and property. The following communities in Minnesota have been awarded HMGP grant funding:
- City of Forest Lake: $69,632 FEMA HMGP Award
For the construction of a safe room at John Jergens Estates.
- City of Rochester: $327,054 FEMA HMGP Award
For the construction of a safe room at Quarry Hill Nature Center in Olmsted County.
- City of Scandia: $121,323 FEMA HMGP Award
For the construction of two safe rooms at Oakhill Neighborhood Cottages in Washington County.
- Stearns County: $80,795 FEMA HMGP Award
For the construction of a safe room at Melrose Mobile Home Park.
