The Partnership and Workforce Development Unit (PWDU)
The Partnership and Workforce Development Unit (PWDU) was created in 2006 to sustain and expand existing Food, Pools and Lodging Services (FPLS) section activities and collaborations. PWDU is funded in part by the Statewide Hospitality Fee approved by the Minnesota Legislature in 2005.
PWDU is responsible for:
- developing and maintaining partnerships among Environmental Health agencies and those they serve;
- conducting program evaluations;
- providing training opportunities;
- coordinating environmental health outbreak and emergency response;
- producing educational and informational materials for industry, public health partners, and the community; and
- developing and managing an emergency notification system;
PWDU Quarterly Newsletter/Update
The Partnership and Workforce Development Unit issues a quarterly update with environmental health information from MDH and our partners.

The Foodborne Outbreak Protocol is intended to assist MDH and local environmental health to rapidly respond to reports of outbreaks, standardize investigations, maintain a statewide database of foodborne diseases and distribute information quickly and consistently.

The Delegation Agreement Advisory Council has met regularly since April 2007. That process has resulted in a near-final draft of the Delegation Agreement, Delegation Agreement Implementation Plan, and Program Evaluation Tools.

Rapid Inspection
The Rapid Inspection Support Center is intended to serve MDH Environmental Health inspection staff and local health agencies with software license agreements for using Rapid Inspection software. This site offers basic product information, answers to frequently asked questions, file downloads, and information regarding MDH contacts and support for Rapid Inspection.

Food Safety Partnership
The Food Safety Partnership (FSP) is a consortium of environmental health professionals, industry partners, and other stakeholders working together to protect the public health in the area of food safety. The goal of the Food Safety Partnership is to create a unified program for food safety in the State of Minnesota.
