Radon Measurement Services
On this page: What to Look for in a Radon Measurement ProfessionalMinnesota does not require radon measurement professionals to be licensed, nor is there any oversight of measurement work performed. Typically, homeowners can purchase radon test kits and perform radon tests for themselves. Contact the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) Indoor Air Unit for more information on where to obtain low cost radon test kits. For information regarding how to perform tests properly and how to use the results, see the fact sheet Minnesota Radon Testing and Use of Test Results which is available online or by calling MDH. Radon measurement professionals may be used when an unbiased third party is desired. Some things you should consider when looking for a radon measurement professional are listed below.
Go to > top Certification of Radon Measurement ProfessionalsMinnesota does not require radon measurement professionals to obtain
certification or licensure. Although it is not required, a voluntary certification
does indicate that the individual has received radon training and has
taken continuing radon education. Both the National Environmental Health
Association (NEHA) and the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) have voluntary
certification programs for radon measurement professionals. For more information
regarding the requirements of these certifications, information regarding
a specific listed professional, or an updated list of certified professionals,
please contact NEHA or NRSB directly.
