Food Program Focus Group
In early May 2006, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), Environmental Health Division (EHD), at the request of the EHKMP Steering Committee, solicited volunteers to serve on the EHKMP Food Program Focus Group; appointments to this group were made in early June 2006.
When volunteers were originally sought for the EHKMP Food Program Focus Group, it was anticipated that it would only be a matter of a few months before Focus Group members would be asked to review materials / information compiled by the EHKMP Food Program Working Group. For a variety of reasons, the timelines for seeking Focus Group input were delayed; despite the delays, many persons who had expressed an interest in serving as a Food Program Focus Group participant in June 2006 were still willing and able to do so when called upon in June 2007.
The EHKMP Food Program Focus Group was comprised of a small group of persons (including representatives of local and state agencies, and a non-profit institution) with a common interest in improving the collection and sharing of food program information on a statewide basis. Administrative support for the EHKMP Food Program Focus Group was provided by MDH Environmental Health Division staff.
The EHKMP Food Program Focus Group was established to gain input from food program constituents as to their opinions regarding the information identified by the EHKMP Food Program Working Group for inclusion in statewide data collection and sharing efforts.
Contributions to the Process
From mid-June through early July 2007, EHKMP Food Program Focus Group participants reviewed draft Action Plan documents for improving the statewide sharing of selected food program licensure, inspection, and enforcement data; written commentary regarding the content of those documents was then shared with the EHKMP Food Program Working Group.
The input received from the EHKMP Food Program Focus Group participants as to whether draft Action Plan documents would help to chart the course for improving the statewide sharing of food program licensure, inspection, and enforcement data was used by the EHKMP Food Program Working Group as they finalized draft documents that comprise Part 1: An Action Plan to Improve the Sharing of Food Program Licensure, Inspection, and Enforcement Data (EHKMP Action Plan: Part 1 - Food Program). Those documents have been reviewed and endorsed by members of the EHKMP Steering Committee.
