The CEC team encourages you to nominate a contaminant that you think is of emerging concern. Please submit nominations for specific contaminants rather than groups of substances (such as "antibiotics" or "herbicides"). To view a list of substances that MDH has or is currently reviewing, go to our most recent status table located in the latest CEC Quarterly Report
(PDF: 183KB/14 pages). Also, please refer to our Nomination Resources page for links that may assist you in responding to the questions listed below.

The name of the contaminant is the only information we require, but the more information we have the better. Please refer to an example nomination, provided for illustrative purposes only.

1. Please list the name of the contaminant and the chemical registration number (CAS), if known (go to http://chem.sis.nlm.nih.gov/chemidplus/ for registration numbers).

2. Please tell us why this contaminant concerns you.

3. How did you learn about this contaminant?

Please provide your name, affiliation (if applicable), and contact information (email, telephone, or address). In order to assess nominated contaminants, CEC staff may need to contact you for additional information.

Please Note:
MDH is not able to conduct a full review and/or develop health based guidance for every contaminant that is nominated. The criteria used to select contaminants for review are being developed with the advice of a task group (refer to Contaminant Screening Criteria and Prioritization Task Group). At the discretion of MDH, CEC staff will develop guidance for contaminants that are not nominated by an outside party and that are not assessed through a selection process.
