Proposed Draft Rule
The proposed amendment will replace the three previously prescribed concentrations with three new concentrations, which reflect the current state of community fluoridation science. The amendment will propose a target fluoride concentration that better balances the benefits of tooth decay prevention and control with risks of receiving too much fluoride.
MDH anticipates the sole proposed amendment to Minnesota Rules, chapter 4720.0030, subpart 2 will be:
The fluoride content of the water shall be controlled to maintain an average concentration of
1.2 0.7 milligrams per liter; the concentration shall be neither less than 0.9 0.5 milligrams per liter nor more than 1.5 0.9 milligrams per liter.
