Cradle of Hope...motherhood fund
The purpose of the Cradle of Hope Grant is to provide "last resort" funding to pregnant women who have encountered expenses related to their pregnancy which they cannot handle. Cradle of Hope funding should only be offered when other services or funds are unavailable.
Baby Item Application Guidelines:
1. Cradle of Hope is able to offer cribs to women experiencing a financial crisis due to pregnancy.
2. Cradle of Hope is able to offer support for this essential service when the life of an unborn child is in jeopardy and for a medical necessity or for the safety of a newborn.
3. Cradle of Hope is able to offer financial assistance if the application demonstrates that the request is a last resort. Please request other funding sources that have been refused.
4. Due to limited funding, Cradle of Hope is able to offer financial support only to women who are at least eight months pregnant or whose baby is under three months of age.
5. Cradle of Hope funding requests will be handled within one month of receipt of a complete application. Verified medical emergencies will be handled promptly.
6. Questions concerning these guidelines or any other information about the application process should be directed to the Cradle of Hope Program Administrator, Kathy Rosenthal 651-636-0637 (Mon., Tues., or Thursday’s).
Specific Guidelines:
Car seat: Are considered part of a client’s automobile costs, along with car payment, insurance, fuel and repairs. They are awarded only when all client income has been depleted by other necessities.
Umbrella Stroller: For pregnant clients with no other form of transportation. For pregnant clients with other small children and no transportation.
Diapers: Awarded when babies are ill and are using many diapers, or when the client’s unforeseen financial crisis leaves no money for diapers.
Portable Cribs*: Awarded to those clients whose pregnancy-related financial crisis has left them unable to save for a crib.
*Portable Cribs are partially funded by the MN Positive Alternatives Program.
