Goal of 2011 Work Plan

Develop and conduct activities resulting in recommendations to the Commissioner of Health and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) on priority maternal and child health (MCH) issues according to statutory charge, not addressed by any other MDH advisory group, and utilizing members’ expertise and experience.

Federal Health Reform
  • Monitor federal and state health reform activities to assess their impact on maternal and child health and children with special health care needs in Minnesota (Ongoing)
  • Discuss communication with policy makers on the various federal funding streams, including what resources are needed to achieve MCH objectives (Ongoing)
Children’s Mental Health Work Group
  • Monitor and receive updates on the activities of the Children’s Mental Health Work Group (Ongoing)
Local Public Health Statewide Objectives Work Group
  • Monitor progress on implementation of the joint MCH Advisory Task Force/SCHSAC on the Local Public Health Statewide Objectives Work Group (March 2011)
Federal MCH Grants
  • Receive updates and provide input on federal grants related to MCH and CYSHN activities (Ongoing)
