Will All Staff Have Their Own Signature Pad? Will Both Participants and Staff Have to Use It? (06/10)
Each HuBERT computer will have its own signature pad. The signature pad attaches via a USB port and can be easily transported.
The signature pad will be used by both the participant and staff. Automated signatures are required at the conclusion of a certification (CPA and participant must sign for each household member certified) and when benefits are issued (the participant must sign once for benefits issued to the entire household).
Will it be a problem for HuBERT if there isn't a firewall at an off-site clinic? (02/09)
HuBERT, along with any Internet connected computer, should always have a firewall between it and the Internet connection. Routers will be provided with the new system and contain a hardware firewall. A router can be thought of as the hub we currently use with the CHIP computers. If the clinic site has multiple computers and is not provided a Local IT solution, the Local Agency can use the State-provided router. If the clinic site is only using one computer, and it is a direct modem-to-modem connection, the software firewall on the computer will be enough.
Will there be servers? (10/08)
The HuBERT system is an on-line, web-based system with a centralized database server. This means that Local Agencies will access the same Main (Centralized) server through the HuBERT application on their workstations connected to the Internet; there will no longer be a server at each location. The exception to this will be those agencies that require the off-line alternative.
Will everyone get new computers (laptop and desktop)? (10/08)
No. We will continue to follow our current hardware replacement plan for laptop and desktop computers. All computers will need to be reconfigured with the HuBERT application, new Operating System, and other necessary system software prior to rollout.
Can we still do Check In and Check Out? (10/08)
In order for Local Agencies to realize the benefits of a centralized system with real-time access to data, we will make every effort to set up Internet connectivity whenever possible. The HuBERT system does allow for an off-line option similar to CHIP's Check-In/Check-Out function. Due to the licensing constraints of the off-line alternative, there is a limit of five users that can be connected to the off-line server at one time. Therefore, we will be working with agencies to ensure that all options for on-line connectivity have been explored. If all options are ruled out, approval will be given for an off-line option.
