For a 9 month old infant who is refusing infant cereal, may we provide "regular" cereal for added texture? (05/20/09)
No. The interim rule of the federal regulations allows only infant cereal in the infant food package. Work with the parent to identify ways to increase the infant's acceptance of the infant cereal, such as adding infant fruit to the infant cereal.
Can you decrease the amount of infant fruits and vegetables if mom wants less? Or is the amount in CHIP "fixed"? (05/20/09)
CHIP options will be:
- Maximum food package of infant fruits and vegetables OR
- None
If the parent would like less than the maximum, encourage them to purchase less than the quantity of the voucher.
Can the Fruit & Vegetable voucher be used for infant fruits & vegetables in jars? (05/20/09)
No. The cash-value Fruit & Vegetable voucher may only be used for the fruits and vegetables listed in the WIC Shopping Guide. This does no include baby foods.
