Minnesota WIC Food List Review 2014

The Minnesota WIC Program will be conducting our next food list review for a planned effective date of April 1, 2015. In order to meet all of our deadlines, please send a complete listing of the WIC Allowed products you would like to be considered for the new food list no later than November 14, 2014. To receive the Excel submission form, please send an email to: karilyn.schrankler@state.mn.us. The information needed for each product type appears on the form.

New to our food list will be qualifying 32 ounce size containers of yogurt and 16 ounce packages of whole wheat pasta.

In addition to product and nutritional information, electronic label images are required for product submissions in the following categories:

  • Cereal
  • Juice
  • Tortillas
  • Bread
  • Oatmeal
  • Soy Beverage
  • Infant Foods
  • Yogurt
  • Whole Wheat pasta

In addition to meeting Federal Regulations for a WIC Allowed food, criteria used in selecting brand specific items for our food list include:

  • Price
  • Availability
  • Consumer preference
  • Ability to meet special nutritional need (i.e. gluten free diet)

Minnesota WIC-Allowed Foods

Minnesota WIC continually updates the list of WIC-Allowed foods in non-brand specific categories. You are encouraged to send any updated product information you have available in an ongoing manner.

Product information must include the following information:

  • Brand Name
  • Product Name
  • Package Type
  • Package Size
  • Ingredient List
  • UPC
  • If available, please include label images
