Training on Restorative Nursing MDS Coding Requirements
Restorative Nursing Programs (item O0500) assist residents to maintain independence in ADL’s and mobility which is important to most people. The requirements for coding Restorative Nursing Programs on the MDS are outlined in the Long Term Care Facility Resident Assessment Instrument User’s Manual. If all of the MDS requirements are not met, Restorative Nursing Programs should not be coded on the MDS. For many years, Case Mix Review staff have found that Restorative Nursing Programs are frequently coded on the MDS without all of the requirements being met.
The Minnesota Department of Health is offering a teleconference training session to assist providers in knowing when a program meets the MDS requirements and can be coded on the MDS.
When: Thursday, February 23, 2012, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Instructors: Nadine Olness, State RAI Coordinator and Marci Martinson, Director of the Case Mix Review Program
Recommended participants: MDS nurses, DON’s, any nurses who participate in, write, supervise, or evaluate Restorative Nursing Programs.
To register for the call:http://www.health.state.mn.us/registration/nocharge/
We ask that only one person per facility register for the call as lines are limited.
