Revised MDS 3.0 RAI Manual, Section G and Case Mix Review Audits – effective October 1, 2013
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has posted a revised version of the “Long-Term Care Facility Resident Assessment Instrument User’s Manual’ on the CMS MDS 3.0 RAI Manual web page.
The revised version of the MDS 3.0 RAI Manual is effective on October 1, 2013. Case Mix Review staff encourage all certified Nursing and Boarding Care Home providers to study the change tables and become familiar with the revised version of the manual. One of the many clarifications in the manual can be found in Section G and is specific to the coding of Activities of Daily Living and the Rule of Three. Minnesota Case Mix will utilize these clarifications when conducting audits of all Minimum Data Sets with Assessment Reference Dates (ARDs) of October 1, 2013 or later.
