OASIS Assessment Form B-1

Purpose

The purpose of this informational bulletin is to inform home care providers that HCFA has updated the OASIS B-1 from (10/98) to OASIS B-1 (8/2000).

The updated forms contain many changes. Some changes are in format, some in response options, items have been modified and renumbered, some new items have been added and/or some items have been added to time points.

Effective Date

The Data Set was final 7/5/200 and are effective at this time.

OASIS Start of Care or Follow-Up Assessments for Home Health Prospective Payment (HHPPS) Start-up

When the HHPPS becomes effective on October 1, 2000, home health agencies (HHA) must take certain actions with regard to the collection and reporting of OASIS data for their Medicare beneficiaries in order to be reimbursed under the new payment system.
