New Hospice Conditions of Participation
The purpose of this bulletin is to provide information on implementation of new Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation (COPs), related joint training being sponsored by, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), and implementation date by MDH.
Joint training will take place via three (3) CMS sponsored satellite training sessions which are archived at the CMS website.

Participants should print out any handouts provided by CMS on the satellite broadcast website and information from CMS S&C 09-19 found at:
MDH Statewide Hospice Phone Call/Q&A
MDH will sponsor a statewide phone call on Monday, March 30, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. CST to follow up from the 3 CMS satellite broadcasts on the new Hospice COPs. In preparation for this statewide call, participants should view the 3 CMS training sessions and forward questions/comments about these new guidelines to Brenda.Fischer@state.mn.us by March 25, 2009. Participants should bring all handouts to this statewide phone call.

Registration for MDH Statewide Hospice Phone Call
An online registration link will be placed on this information bulletin site no later than the Friday prior to each of these calls. Registration online at http://www.health.state.mn.us/divs/fpc/profinfo/registration/preregistration.cfm will be available until March 29, 2009. Providers must register online for each of the three phone calls to participate in these calls. The call in number will be provided as part of the registration process.
Implementation Date by MDH
MDH will begin surveying on these new Hospice guidelines March 31, 2009.
