End of Life (F309), Advance Directives (F155), Feeding Tubes (F322/F321)
REVISED FEDERAL NURSING HOME GUIDANCE


Purpose:
The purpose of this Information Bulletin is to inform providers and other interested parties that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released new Nursing Home Guidance to Surveyors for Feeding Tubes (F322/F321), Advance Directives (F155), and End of Life (F309). Joint provider and MDH surveyor training will be offered prior to the implementation of these guidelines by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) in conjunction with stakeholder groups.

Implementation:
MDH surveyors and investigators will implement these revised guidelines effective February 4, 2013.

Joint Training
MDH in conjunction with The Office of the Ombudsman for Long Term Care, Aging Services of Minnesota, Care Providers of Minnesota, Minnesota Medical Directors Association, Minnesota Network of Hospice & Palliative Care, and other interested individuals and organizations will sponsor joint training.
The training will include written resources, WebEx Training and Statewide Phone Call. There is no charge for these events or resources.

Listen and participate to the statewide phone call on End of Life (F309), Advance Directives (F155), Feeding Tubes (F322/F321) on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 1:00pm-2:30 pm.
Registration is required for the statewide phone call.

Providers will need to register online to participate in the call. Registration will close at end of working day 2 days prior to the call. The call in number and participant code will be provided 2 days prior to the call. Make sure your email address is correct on your registration to get the phone number and participant code.

Please submit your questions, ideas and best practices related to these new protocols by January 4th, 2013. These will be compiled and shared with participants during January 16, 2013 call or other appropriate avenues.
