Dietary And Food Services Rules For Nursing Homes

On June 20, 1994, the Minnesota Department of Health published proposed rules relating to dietary and food services in licensed nursing homes in the State Register . Each nursing home was sent a copy of the proposed rules, and had an opportunity to comment on the proposed rules. A public hearing on the proposed rules was held August 2, 1994. Based on the written comments received and the testimony at the hearing, the Department amended portions of the proposed rules.

The Minnesota Department of Health has now adopted new licensing rules for dietary and food services in nursing homes. These new licensing rules are found in Minnesota Rules , parts 4658.0600 to 4658.0685. The notice of adoption of these rules appears in the February 27, 1995 State Register .

These rules will become effective May 28, 1995.

Beginning May 28, 1995, nursing homes will no longer be required to comply with Minnesota Rules , parts 4655.8500 to 4655.8830.

Beginning May 28, 1995, nursing homes will be required to comply with Minnesota Rules , parts 4658.0600 to 4658.0685.

Boarding care homes are still required to comply with Chapter 4655. The new rules in parts 4658.0600 to 4658.0685 do not apply to boarding care homes.
