Becoming an Asthma Educator and Care Manager
Asthma Training Workshop for LSNs and PHNs
This specialized training workshop is for Minnesota licensed school nurses (LSN) and public health nurses (PHN) who manage or work in the school health office or serve the community.
The course aims to teach nurses to holistically approach the care and education of children who have asthma and their families that support them. The day’s content emphasizes discussions surrounding asthma in the school health office and community. Nurses who serve schools with especially high asthma rates are encouraged to attend.
The workshop will cover these core asthma topics:
- Asthma prevalence
- Goals of asthma therapy
- Controlling factors that contribute to severity
- Monitoring symptoms
- Medication administration
- Optimizing education
- Asthma in the school health office
