Becoming an Asthma Educator and Care Manager

Join us on March 9 for a FREE, 6 CEU workshop hosted by the Minnesota Department of Health Asthma Program and Dakota County Public Health

Asthma Training Workshop for LSN’s, PHN’s and RN Care Coordinators

This specialized training workshop is for Minnesota licensed school nurses (LSN), public health nurses (PHN) and RN care coordinators who manage or work in the school health office or serve the community.

The course aims to teach nurses to holistically approach the care and education of children who have asthma and their families that support them. The day’s content emphasizes discussions surrounding asthma in the school health office and community. Nurses who serve schools with especially high asthma rates are encouraged to attend.

The workshop will cover these core asthma topics:

  • Asthma prevalence
  • Goals of asthma therapy
  • Pathophysiology
  • Controlling factors that contribute to severity
  • Monitoring symptoms
  • Medication administration
  • Co-morbidities
  • Optimizing education
  • Asthma in the school health office
