Eating to Learn, Learning to Eat
Has your school considered a Farm to School program?
By improving the offerings of fresh fruits and vegetables, Farm to School programs will help make the healthy choice the easy choice for students and school staff. Kids eat more fresh local foods and learn about where their food comes from, all while supporting local farmers. By connecting farms and schools,
children, schools and farmers all benefit.
Hear about the Dover-Eyota public school system in southern Minnesota featured by KAAL-TV News, the district is now serving locally raised meats, cucumbers, watermelons, tomatoes, zucchini and potatoes. Nearby farmers have also visited to celebrate Farm to School with students and staff.
"The positive benefits nutritionally along with the educational benefits of talking about where their food is coming from have been exciting."
