LANA:
Learning About Nutrition Through Activities

Cooking Activities

Purpose: To provide children with repeated experiences with fruits and vegetables in order to familiarize them with and develop a preference for new fruits and vegetables. This will be done through simple food preparation activities involving the target fruits and vegetables.  Each child can be involved in creating and tasting fruit/vegetable recipes.

Overview: There are at least three recipes for each of the target fruits and vegetables featured in the LANA program. The recipes range from simple assembly to more involved preparation. During classroom activity time, the children will help prepare and taste a fruit/vegetable recipe. These cooking activities are a weekly component of the LANA Preschool Program.
