If physical activity were a pill, it would be the most widely prescribed medication on the market.

Lack of physical activity, combined with a poor diet, is the second leading cause of preventable death and disease in the United States and a huge economic burden on the state. Increasing dependence on cars, televisions, computers and other similar conveniences make physical activity less a part of our daily lives.

  • Physical activity prevents many diseases like diabetes, heart disease, some cancers and obesity. 
  • Physical activity improves moods and helps to prevent depression and anxiety.
  • Physically active people feel better, look better, and feel younger, too.
