What is a Coalition?
A structured arrangement for cooperation and collaboration between otherwise unrelated groups or organizations, in which each group retains its identity but all agree to work together toward a common, mutually agreed-upon goal.Meeting with members of the coalition is a good source of information for a preliminary needs assessment or various aspects of evaluation. For example, if a fitness program is being evaluated, the evaluators, staff, and some participants may meet early in the planning and implementation stages to discuss the status of the program.
Be sure that the coalition involves a variety of people to ensure that health goals and objectives will pertain to the entire population. By including a variety of people, we can work to eliminate health disparities among different populations in Minnesota.
