Health Care Administrative Simplification
The Center for Health Care Purchasing Improvement provides staffing and project management support of efforts to reduce health care administrative complexity and expense.
In May, 2007, legislation was passed that requires all group purchasers and health care providers in Minnesota to electronically exchange health care administrative transactions in standard electronic format by 2009. The law, codified as Minnesota Statutes, section 62J.536, is being implemented through rules being developed by the Commissioner of Health in consultation with the Administrative Uniformity Committee (AUC). The Center is supporting this effort.
See the Administrative Simplification Act (ASA) website for more information regarding Minnesota Statutes, section 62J.536 and the rulemaking process and timelines for the standard, electronic exchange of health care administrative transactions.
