Mortuary Science Section
Effective October 1, 2017 the Mortuary Science section will be using updated applications and forms.
If an updated application or form is not used it will be returned back to you.
Initial Applications: Our initial application process will change. We will no longer accept applications and supporting documentation separate. You will need to submit your application, fee and all supporting documentations together in one packet.
Documents submitted without an application will be discarded.
Hennepin County Medical Examiner
Effective January 1, 2017 the Hennepin County Medical examiner will be increasing the following fees for funeral homes:
- Body Bags will increase to $15.00
- Cremation Approvals will increase to $50.00
These changes will affect all deaths occurring in Hennepin, Dakota and Scott Counties. No action is required by the funeral home. Your 2017 billing statements will automatically reflect the changes.

Effective Monday, October 3, 2016 the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will no longer accept paper or faxed cremation approvals. All requests for cremation authorization must be filed and approved in the MR&C system. This change will impact all licensees and funeral homes filing cremation authorizations within Hennepin, Dakota and Scott counties. Please direct all inquiries related to this initiative directly to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner at 612-215-6300.
