2016 Legislation

2016 legislation removed the requirement that all funeral establishment locations have a preparation and embalming room. An establishment with multiple locations only needs to have one preparation and embalming room. Branch locations that conduct viewings, visitations, and services and hold the body pending final disposition afterward does not need to have a preparation and embalming room. Please note that any room used for preparation and embalming must comply with all requirements of Minnesota Statutes Section 149A. 92.

Continuing Education Waivers

As of January 1, 2016, the Mortuary Science Program will no longer honor CE waivers. The mortuary science statutes do not authorize the Program to waive CE.
