Section Mission: 1) to perform surveillance for communicable diseases,
monitor trends and detect outbreaks, 2) to investigate outbreaks and eliminate
sources, 3) provide technical assistance and education to the medical
community in controlling communicable disease problems, 4) design and
implement special epidemiologic studies to address specific issues related
to the public health control of communicable diseases.
