MDH Pandemic Planning

The Minnesota Department of Health leads the human health aspects of pandemic planning for the state. Right now, MDH is monitoring for unusual flu strains in Minnesota that could become the next influenza pandemic, as well as helping people prepare for a pandemic. During a pandemic, MDH has strategies to slow the spread of the disease as well as to protect the health of all Minnesotans.

  • Annual Progress Updates
Reports to update the public and partners about progress the agency has made in preparing Minnesota for the public health impacts of a pandemic influenza. It is also a great overview of the MDH’s role in pandemic influenza planning, response and recovery.

Plans

  • MDH Pandemic Influenza Plan
The entire plan: This Support Annex to the MDH All-Hazards Response and Recovery Plan gives details of MDH's activities during and in preparation of an influenza pandemic. There are three parts to the plan: the base plan, technical sections covering 11 areas, and additional attachments. Like all working plans, this one is a living document, and will continue to evolve. Note: The version posted here is the current approved plan- Version 2.5, April, 2006.

  • More MDH Emergency Preparedness Plans
MDH leads the health aspect of emergencies in Minnesota. Various plans including the MDH All-Hazards Response and Recovery Base Plan detail what MDH will do during emergencies.
