Currently, there is a nationwide investigation of fungal infections resulting from contaminated medications.
These infections include an uncommon form of meningitis, which should not be confused with the viral or bacterial forms of the illness with which most people are familiar. Fungal meningitis is a rare but life-threatening form of meningitis. This form of meningitis should not be confused with the viral or bacterial forms of the illness.
Other kinds of infections include osteomyelitis (infection of the bone) and abscesses (infected fluid collections).
These infections cannot be transmitted from person to person.
