Invasive isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae from the seven-county metropolitan area are submitted to the MDH laboratory for antimicrobial susceptibility testing. This report details proportions of isolates that were susceptible, intermediate, and resistant to each of 10 antibiotics. Also, penicillin results are given by age group, and multiple drug resistance results are covered. Results are shown for each year 1996-2001.
