More about neonatal sepsis
All invasive neonatal sepsis, in infants less than 7 days after birth (when bacteria is isolated from a normally sterile site, excluding coagulase-negative Staphylococcus). Neonatal sepsis must be reported to MDH within one working day.
Isolates are considered to be from invasive disease if they are isolated from normally sterile sites.

There are two forms that form can be used to report neonatal sepsis to the Minnesota Department of Health.

Any reportable infectious disease may be reported by phone to 651-201-5414 or 877-676-5414.
For neonatal sepsis, submission of clinical materials (isolate, if available) to MDH is required by rule.
