MED-X Program Description

The Medical Examiner Infectious Deaths Surveillance Program (MED-X) is a population based surveillance program aimed at capturing all possible infectious disease related deaths reported to Medical Examiners in Minnesota.

Purpose

The purpose of the MED-X program is to capture all possible infectious disease related deaths in MN that are investigated by Medical Examiner offices.

Background

The program was started in 2006 and piloted by the Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner Office (MRMEO) in Hastings which covers Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Fillmore, Freeman, Goodhue, Houston and Scott Counties.  In 2007 it expanded to the Anoka County and Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Offices.  Any Medical Examiner office is welcome to participate.  Please contact Christine Lees at (651) 201-5414 if interested.
