In 2016, 2 measles cases were reported. Both were Hennepin County residents. One was a black, non-Hispanic 6 year-old. The case and her family had recently returned from Somalia. The other was a 7 year-old sibling of the first case. The first case was unvaccinated and the second case had received 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine. The two siblings had rash onsets within 2 days of each other and were both hospitalized and recovered without complications.
Both siblings were exposed to their 2 year-old unvaccinated sibling who had been diagnosed with measles in Somalia. Both cases were confirmed by PCR at the PHL.
