Olmsted County Public Health has partnered with an adult literacy program with 1,500 learners from over 40 countries, and provides the program with a school public health nurse (PHN). The PHN provides health education activities linked to the curriculum, and refers individual learners to community health resources. The PHN's presence has enhanced emergency preparedness outreach to persons with low English literacy, improved adult flu vaccine rates, and helped to implement a tuberculosis screening program.
