SNAPSHOT of Minnesota Health Care Workforce
GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION OF PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIANS, 2010
bar graph of geographic distribution of physicians in MN regional map of MN

Comparing the physician workforce to the population by region can highlight the greatest need for primary care. The central, northwest and southwest regions have fewer physicians in proportion to the populations in their regions than the rest of the state. The proportion of the physicians to the population is greater in southeast Minnesota, where the Mayo Clinic is located.
