Clinical Laboratory

The Clinical Laboratory, a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) - certified facility, occupies approximately 10,200 square feet of laboratory space and is composed of three laboratory units; Microbiology Molecular Epidemiology Virology/Serology

Clinical laboratories in the State are required to submit specific microbial isolates, allowing MDH laboratory to provide surveillance, reference, and diagnostic testing services that are generally not otherwise available in the State. In addition, the Clinical Laboratory is prepared to respond to emergencies and outbreaks that threaten the public’s health, utilizing some of the most current methodologies and equipment available.
