State-Certified HIE Service Provider
Epic Systems Corporation
Dates of Current Certification: January 20, 2017 - January 20, 2018
Certificate of Authority
Epic is granted a certificate of authority to operate as a HIESP in Minnesota, in accordance with Minnesota Statutes sections 62J.498 through 62J.4982. Specifically, Epic is certified to operate as a HDI to provide the following services currently being provided in Minnesota, as described in the updated Epic application materials on August 31, 2016:
- As an EHR, Epic allows for sharing of health information by sending, querying, receiving, and integrating data through the Care Everywhere module.
- This HIE includes the ability to connect with all other Epic Care Everywhere users, and with other providers/organizations as set up within each Epic using organization.
- Note: Epic provides the HIE capabilities for individual organizations to exchange on a peer-to-peer basis using Care Everywhere, but the information does not get combined into a single Epic repository for population health services. Because of the value-added capabilities provided by entities such as Health Information Organizations, Epic using organizations in Minnesota can connect to a state-certified HIO through the use of Care Everywhere.
