About the Advisory Committee: The committee is comprised of key stakeholders who represent the spectrum of Minnesota’s health community, including providers, payers, public health, researchers, vendors, consumer, and more. The e-Health Initiative, led by the Minnesota e-Health Initiative Advisory Committee and the MDH Office of Health Information Technology (OHIT), has pushed for and supported e-health across the continuum of care; as a result, Minnesota is a national leader in implementation and collaboration.

Objectives:

  • Understand DHS plans for alerting service and relationship to HIE study and opioid recommendations
  • Endorse final Minnesota HIE Study and Health Records Act recommendations
  • Endorse final recommendations and identify MN e-Health actions for mitigating the opioid epidemic
  • Review Minnesota e-Health 2030 project activity and next steps

National

New Content: Health IT Playbook Update

The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has added an Opioid Epidemic and Health IT section to the Health IT Playbook. The information includes examples of how HIT can combat the opioid epidemic and includes sections on prescription drug monitoring programs (PDMPs), PDMPs and health IT integration, e-prescribing of controlled substances and more. A chapter on Behavioral Health is also included in the update. The behavioral health chapter features a new educational module for behavioral health providers and multiple resources for patient engagement as it relates to behavioral health.


Free Webinar: Interoperability in Action- Patient Matching Milestones at ONC

ONC has developed a variety of patient matching projects focused on improving data quality, achieving higher interoperability, and delivering safer healthcare. This webinar will provide an overview of the design and outcome of each of those projects, including lessons learned and best practices for patient data capture and record matching.
