Health Information Exchange

  • Learn from HIOs and discuss current HIE landscape, value proposition, and priorities for exchange among HIOs.
  • Review and provide input, as needed, on HIE-related activities including, but not limited to: Minnesota HIE Study, federal activities including SIM and CMS 90/10 work, and Minnesota HIE Oversight.
  • Identify expectations for statewide HIE in Minnesota with attention to local, regional, and statewide transactions and value propositions, incorporating the Minnesota e-Health Roadmap use cases as well as resources such as the Shared Nationwide Interoperability Roadmap and other resources as needed. 
  • Review Privacy and Security Workgroup approved materials from the SIM-funded privacy, security and consent work and discuss options for use.
  • Review and provide input, as needed, on HIE-related activities including, but not limited to: Minnesota HIE Study, federal activities including SIM and CMS 90/10 work, and Minnesota HIE Oversight.

Privacy and Security

  • Provide feedback on the analysis provided by Gray Plant Mooty for the Minnesota Privacy, Security and Consent Management for Health Information Exchange Project (Part A); endorse and validate educational materials being developed by HIELIX for providers as part of the same project (Part B)
  • Recommend to providers and health care stakeholders activities that support the implementation of sound privacy and security practices for health information
  • Ensure that the needs of consumers, providers, and health care stakeholders are fully considered in the development of educational resources and tools

Workforce
In 2016 this workgroup will develop recommendations to implement workforce training along two pathways:

  • Short term on-demand training to increase capacity for clinical workers to develop skills and knowledge for health IT and informatics
  • Academic curricula for Minnesota's post-secondary schools to incorporate informatics requirements for students entering health professions
