The Minnesota Department of Health is now posting weekly updates of announcements related to Minnesota’s health reform activities. These updates are also sent out via e-mail to subscribers to Health Reform Announcements. Updates are sent each Friday.

Weekly Update - August 29, 2014

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) awarded another round of $30,000 grants to four organizations to test the potential of emerging professionals to strengthen health care teams and improve access to care. This is the second round, of three rounds of grant funding, awarded for the Emerging Professions Integration Grant Program. These awards were made possible through Minnesota’s $45 million State Innovation Model (SIM) testing grant.

Hospital Quality Reporting Steering Committee meeting October 27
The Hospital Quality Reporting Steering Committee will hold a meeting October 27 at 2 p.m., on work related to the Statewide Quality Reporting and Measurement System. Those that are interested in this public steering committee meeting may attend in person at Stratis Health or by phone. MNsure Meets Milestone Rebuilding Online Exchange
The main software components that will make up the MNsure online exchange are now being installed and work continues to make the system ready for open enrollment in November.

Late-in-life health care: Initiatives aim to cut costs while increasing quality

Statewide quality measures data submission deadline August 15
The MN Community Measurement (MNCM) Data Portal closes August 15, 2014 for Cycle C of quality measure data submission for the Statewide Quality Reporting and Measurement System. Cycle C includes the Maternity Care Primary C-section Rate, Optimal Asthma Care, and Colorectal Cancer Screening quality measures. Visit the MNCM website for more information.

Weekly Update - August 1, 2014

Minnesota Accountable Health Model – SIM Minnesota regional meetings are underway
Find out more about Minnesota's Accountable Health Model and connect with local partners at upcoming meetings.  SIM Minnesota is seeking communities at different levels of ability to provide accountable care. Regional Meetings are an opportunity to learn what is happening across the state.The next meetings are August 4 in Shakopee and August 5 in Minneapolis and Worthington.

Round 2 Emerging Professions Integration Grant Program applications due Sept. 19
The Minnesota Departments of health and human services have issued a second RFP for integrating emerging professions into the workplace, as part of the Minnesota Accountable Health Model-SIM Minnesota.

The goal of the Minnesota Emerging Professions Integration Grant Program is to add emerging professions, such as community health workers, community paramedics, and dental therapist/advanced dental therapist to the workforce in roles that support the Minnesota Accountable Health Model.

Up to $120,000 will be available for four grants of up to $30,000 each, to support the integration of an emerging professional. Eligible applicants are any type of organization that has the capacity to employ an emerging professional. Click here for the Round 2 RFP.
