Sexual Violence Prevention Campus Portal

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified, gender-nonconforming, and queer specific resources

There's a reason that sexual violence is also known as gender-based violence: because it is about power and control over those who are different due to their sexual or gender identity. Queer and trans youth face higher rates of stranger assaults, mostly in the form of hate crimes based on their identity or perceived identity. The silence is thick around heterosexual, female survivors of rape; for those inhabiting other gender or sexual identities, it can be even harder to speak up and be heard. However, homophobia and transphobia are inextricably linked to sexiam and must be considered in any prevention project.
