Institutional Responsibilities
Much is asked of schools in regards to sexual violence. And with good reason: families entrust the safety of their young adults to the institution. Students put their trust in the school as bastions of knowledge. The larger community expects schools to produce thoughtful, empathetic, productive, civic-minded students. The list goes on!
Sexual violence on campuses interferes with all of these expectations. The stakes are high, and thus what is asked is high. Without institutional commitment, no change will ever come.
- Know Your Rights: Title IX Prohibits Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Where You Go to School Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in education programs and activities.
