Charge - Communications for Survey Improvement Subcommittee
Charge:
The commissioner of health has convened a group to recommend ways to minimize tensions created by the survey process and the regulatory relationship, and to recommend actions designed to:
- Establish productive and respectful communications and relationships among regulated facilities, residents and their families, and the Department;
- Better integrate information from family members and staff into the survey findings; and
- Clarify roles and responsibilities of MDH and provider staff in putting the group’s recommendations into action.
The group will advise the Commissioner and other stakeholders who may play a part in successfully implementing the recommendations.
Product and Time Line:
At the end of its work the committee would provide the commissioner with a set of constructive and practical recommended strategies that the department and providers may implement. The group will complete its work by June 30, 2004.
Membership:
The membership of the group will be broadly representative of long-term care consumers, providers, resident and patient advocates and regulatory agencies.
