Minnesota Health Commissioner receives H1N1 flu shot
Ample supplies of vaccine now available; Minnesotans encouraged to get vaccinated.

Minnesota Health Commissioner Dr. Sanne Magnan receives her H1N1 flu shot from Michelle Blom of St. Paul-Ramsey County Public Health Department during a special event Tuesday in St. Paul to mark the beginning of the 'Ban the Bug' campaign in Minnesota, an effort to encourage all Minnesotans to seek vaccination for influenza this season. The event was also part of National Influenza Vaccination Week. With ample supplies of vaccine now available, Dr. Magnan is strongly encouraging all Minnesotans to be vaccinated against the 2009 H1N1 influenza strain as well as seasonal influenza. While influenza activity in Minnesota has declined in recent weeks, there is still the potential for a third wave of illness to occur between now and late April, caused either by H1N1 or seasonal influenza viruses. At the same time, vaccine supply is increasing, presenting Minnesotans with a window of opportunity to protect themselves and others through vaccination. Commissioner Magnan wants Minnesotans to know that now is a good time to get vaccinated and there is plenty of vaccine available for everyone.
