Featured presenters:

Michael E. Bird, M.S.W., M.P.H., is a Santo Domingo San Juan Pueblo Indian from New Mexico. Mr. Bird has over 25 years of public health experience in the areas of medical social work, substance abuse prevention, health promotion and disease prevention, HIV/AIDS prevention, behavioral health, and health care administration. From 2001 to 2005, he served as executive director of the National Native American AIDS Prevention Center (NNAAPC), and was the first American Indian and social worker to serve as president of the American Public Health Association.

Gail C. Christopher, D.N., is vice president for programs at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, serving on the executive team that provides overall direction and leadership for the foundation. Dr. Christopher is nationally recognized for her pioneering work to infuse holistic health and diversity concepts into public sector programs and policy discourse. She is a prolific writer and presenter.

Roberto Dansie, PhD, is the author of two books Eternal Wellsprings and Semillas De Esperanza, and has been in the educational arena for over 30 years. He has been a keynote speaker and trainer for numerous educational institutions, such as the California Department of Education, Regional and National Migrant Ed, Head Start, Even Start, and Stream forums from the East to the West.

Dr. Rochelle Rollins, Office of Minority Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Office of Minority Health develops and coordinates federal health policy that addresses minority health concerns and ensures that federal, state and local health programs take into account the needs of disadvantaged, racial and ethnic populations.

Joy W. Smith, is the executive director of the National Association of State Offices of Minority Health.

Doua Thor, M.S.W., is the executive director of Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC). Ms. Thor has worked with numerous national and grassroots Southeast Asian American organizations and was a New Voices Fellow with Hmong National Development, Inc. (HND). Currently, she serves on the boards of Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote and of the Asian Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund (APIASF). Ms. Thor is Hmong American.
